When it comes to politics, there are often winners and losers. While there are a multitude of parties, the Democrats and Republicans are the most well known. As such, Brad Buckley Texas House Of Representatives campaign is now in the forefront of the local news in central Texas.
According to Brad, the inspiration to compete whether in politics or other areas was inspired by a 4th grade teacher. A teacher who taught that winning and losing are the essentials of competition. After which, the boy grew up into a man, a man who now desires to represent Bell County and the Killeen area in the State house.
A 1985 graduate of Ellison High and the grandson of Leo Buckley, grandmother Roe Buckley and mother Lolly, the candidate is no stranger when it comes to working with the educational system. For, while Leo was a legendary coach and athletic director, his grandmother was the director at a local hospital and his mom, a teacher. As such, Brad has experience in a number of different areas of the community.
Whether or not the candidate has a chance, there certainly is a great deal of support. For, there are several members of the community whom have already been holding fundraisers for the campaign. In other cases, people having been sitting up campaign signs and knocking on doors. After all this work, the candidate hopes to make positive changes once elected which will not only make the Killeen area a better place but Texas as a whole.
As a Veterinarian, the candidate clearly understands the needs of animals. While this is the case, many wonder if the candidate can also understand the needs of the local citizenry. For, the Killeen area is one of the most diverse areas in the state. As such, there are a number of concerns at the moment including issues with immigration and others which are at the forefront of ongoing issues in the community.
While the board understands the need for the project, there are also several projects which the board had hoped to see begin in 2018 and 2019. These include, updating existing campuses so each meets disability compliance along with safety and security issues in that area. As these are changes are required by the State, it is not the construction of the high school that is in question but rather the cost of the project.
While most in the community would love a new high school, there are also other areas which need work. As such, the candidate has favor in either case. The question is how many will vote for a candidate willing to spend millions of dollars on one project when so many others are needed. A question, that can only be answered once the next representative takes office.
While Buckley has a great sense of family and community and is an upstanding member of the Killeen area, those factors may or may not be enough to win the primary in March. The school board often has a loud voice when it comes to elections, so it would be beneficial for the candidate to lay out a clear platform on how the educational system is going to benefit from a win. If not, whether or not the incumbent has the same plans for these educational improvements, it could be a closer race than otherwise.
